The chase began when officers in the Narcotics and Organized Crime squad went to his home to serve an arrest warrant on Dotson for two counts of sales of narcotics, a police report contained in Dotson’s file said. Armed with a search warrant, police looked through Dotson’s car, but found only a small orange container that said, “RX for recreational use, take as needed,” containing about a gram and one-half of marijuana, the report said. Police then searched Dotson’s home and found three bullets, which he was prohibited from owning because of a judge’s protective order stemming from an earlier domestic violence arrest.
