Suffix Neon does show up but not bright enough to be useful and after a few casts, the brilliant color is gone and you just have a faded, dirty yellow/white line. I now only use fluorescent monofilament lines for black light fishing. Berkley Big Game, Grand Slam and P-Line XXX Hi Vis are my go-to favorites for black light fishing.

i go alittle light with the line 15-20. if i'm fishing a heavy rock or timber area where i have to get the fish off the bottom in a hurry i will go 25lb. i like to use my drag rather than to horse the fish in. if your looking for a cheaper flathead rod that will get the job done the cabela's king kat rod and a king kat 2 reel will do the trick.

If you're going to be fishing logjams or such places, where you need to be able to turn a heavy fish before it wraps you up and breaks off, you need heavy line. If you're fishing heavy current from a boat, you can always chase the fish, but if you're bank fishing, you need heavy line, and a lot of it; I've seen Penn 309s loaded with 50# mono ...
