First responders descend on New Milford for search and rescue drill NEW MILFORD — Scores of firemen, paramedics, police and other first responders mobilized at Clatter Valley Park on Old Town Road Saturday to simulate a search and rescue of hikers who had gone missing the night before. The drill was a rare occasion when members of at least eight departments came together for training in coordinating several search methods, including on foot, with K-9s and even an aerial search by the Eagle One helicopter. Emergency personnel, including firefighters from New Milford, Bridgewater, Gaylordsville, Northville and Roxbury, started early Saturday morning, adapting their procedures as more was learned about the missing hikers.
