Mozilla Corp., maker of the popular Firefox Web browser, has begun developing an operating system for mobile phones and tablets. The project, called Boot To Gecko, was announced on a company forum page. Mountain View-based Mozilla said the aim is to build "a complete stand-alone operating system for the Web." That contrasts with the current environment in which developers must rewrite applications to run on different mobile phone platforms. Mozilla's plan is for applications to run on a single Web technology -- and not just on the Firefox browser...
