Fire Scare Prompts Southbury School Evacuation

SOUTHBURY - Students have returned to Pomperaug High School after the school was briefly evacuated this morning for smoke in the air ducts. School officials sent out a notice to parents stating that smoke was observed coming from the air ducts in the wood shop area around 8:30 a.m. and that the school was evacuated as a precaution. Local firefighters responded to the school and said it was safe for the students to return after inspecting the building.
