Fire Destroys Auburn Barn

A fire destroyed a barn in Auburn Saturday evening, but firefighters managed to save the attached house. When firefighters arrived at the scene, 976 Old Danville Road, the fire was nearing the attached 2 1/2-story house, Deputy Chief Geoff Low said in a news release. Despite the large volume of fire and limited water supply, crews were able to stop the fire from spreading and save the home, Low said. While the barn and its contents are a complete loss, the residential portion of the home can be reoccupied after some repairs, he said.
