Fathers Seek Equal Visitation Rights

LIMA — Fathers seeking equal child visitation rights began gathering signatures outside the Allen County Courthouse on Tuesday in hopes of putting a measure on the spring ballot. “We’re trying to get fathers 50/50 shared parenting,” said Devin Green the organizer of the local protest and a father to a 2-month-old boy. The group organized across the state through Facebook under the name “Ohio Fathers’ Rights Movement.” They chose the courthouse as the site for a protest because visitation rights are decided inside the building and everyone seeking those rights do so in the building, Green said. Green said if a couple are not married, as was his case, mothers traditionally get full custody.
