A fire ripped through a home in Orchards early Sunday morning, severely damaging the building and displacing the family of six living there. Firefighters from the Vancouver Fire Department and Clark County Fire District 3 were called to the house, 15505 N.E. 83rd St., around 1:50 a.m. Vancouver Fire Department spokesman Bryan Fredrickson said responding firefighters arrived to find fire coming from the rear of the house on the second floor and an outbuilding engulfed in flames. The fire in the shop was extending to the building, according to the fire department. The fire took about 10 minutes to bring under control, Fredrickson said, but left extensive flame and smoke damage throughout the house. The fire displaced the six occupants — two adults and four children — who were staying with friends within the neighborhood, he said. The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating.
