Stories Related to Fairmont State Mold Stories Led To Firing, Advisor Claims

Staff reports FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The former advisor for Fairmont State University's student newspaper says he was fired after the newspaper published stories about mold on campus.Michael Kelley filed a grievance against the university on Tuesday in response to his dismissal last month. The newspaper's editor in chief, Jacob Buckland, told the Student Press Law Center that Kelley, advisor for The Columns, was fired in retaliation for stories the paper published about mold found in campus dormitories.
