The initiative to rid the world of polio has come a long way since the 1950s, when a vaccine was introduced, but the disease is still endemic in two countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan. As efforts continue to eradicate the disease, Bay Area polio survivors this week shared their stories and memories of batting the crippling affliction.
