After a year of stalemate, the Escondido Union High School District and its teachers’ union struck a tentative contract agreement Wednesday. The new agreement, set to take effect July 1, would raise teacher compensation by 6 percent this year and by 3 percent for 2016-17, said Escondido Union High School District Superintendent Steve Boyle.
