El Paso County Fire Contained, Evacuations Lifted

A 280-acre wildfire burning east of Colorado Springs prompted about 280 people to evacuate Monday as it came “really close” to some homes, said El Paso County spokesman Dave Rose. The blaze started shortly after 5 p.m. on the east side of U.S. 24 between Constitution Avenue and Falcon Highway, the Falcon Fire Department reported. The mandatory evacuations were issued about 6:30 p.m.
