Tre Evans wants to be a point guard and there may not be room for two at Oklahoma State, so late Tuesday he had a change of heart. Evans, one of the state’s top basketball recruits in the upcoming senior class, announced on his Twitter page that he was no longer committed to the Cowboys, a school he once said fit his up-tempo style of play. He told The Oklahoman on Wednesday that OSU still remains in the picture, but he wants to weigh his options to find a place he can play point guard all four years and make an immediate impact. “Just looking at my options being I committed real early, I wanted to take all five of my visits and look at my options,” Evans said in a phone interview from Las Vegas where he was scheduled to play in an AAU tournament. “I talked to coach (Travis) Ford last night after de-committing and we both agreed that they’ll still be in the picture and that there’s no hard feelings between us.” OSU signed highly touted point guard Jawun Evans out of Dallas last year, which would theoretically mean Tre Evans would have to move to shooting guard. “Me developing as a player, I think I’d want to play the point instead of the two,” Evans said. Evans is the son of Terry Evans, who was recently named Edmond North’s boys basketball coach after a long tenure at Central Oklahoma.Read more on NewsOK.com
