This past June, in a survey of the wages earned by the CEOs of local nonprofits, the Sacramento Bee listed the salary of Joe Mendez — the CEO of Goodwill Industries of the Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada — at $423,786. Though it’s my least favorite question to ask anyone (my brothers and I were raised to not even ask about each other’s salary) I ask Mendez over lunch if this is accurate.
