Northbound E-470 in Aurora was reopened Monday morning following a semitrailer fire that sent smoke across the roadway, which led authorities to divert traffic onto Interstate 70 for a period of time. Aurora Fire Rescue and Sable Altura Fire Rescue responded to the burning truck, which was carrying a load of acai berries, at East 26th Avenue and E-470 around 5 a.m. Firefighters prevented the flames from reaching the E-470 bridge, according to Aurora Fire Rescue. Crews contained the fire and were able to prevent diesel fuel from reaching any waterways, according to Aurroa Fire Rescue. No injuries were reported. Earlier today, at around 5 am, @AuroraFireDpt and @SableAlturaFire responded to a report of a semi-truck on fire near E 26th Avenue and E470. The truck was carrying a load of acai berries, and the cause of the fire is unknown.
