Duval County school children won’t be sporting new, district-required uniforms next year after all. The school board Tuesday decided against setting a district-wide rule next year to require all elementary and middle schools students to wear uniforms. “We can pick our own battles and this isn’t one that’s prudent to fight,” said Ashley Smith Juarez, board chairwoman. Each school likely would have chosen its own colors and shirt logos, but children would have had to wear basic khaki and polo shirts.
