Opioids and other prescription pills are going missing or stolen from hospitals and clinics across the state at an alarming rate — with reports through August up 15 percent over all of last year already — as the governor wages war on the drug scourge.The jump, outlined in a new state Department of Public Health report, underscores what experts say could be a frightening trend as addicts continue to hunt down prescription opiates even as the state tamps down on the flow of the pills.
