Disorderly Conduct Plea In Schenectady Casino Incident

A 21-year-old Troy woman pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct at the new Rivers Casino for hurling a beverage glass at another woman during a Feb. 12 fight that Schenectady police maintain erupted after a disagreement with a North Adams, Mass., couple over how many people would participate in group sex. [...] there was no mention of the alleged sexual escapades during Tuesday's court proceedings when the woman appeared before Schenectady City Court Judge Mark Caruso and was convicted after an Alford plea, meaning she does not admit to the act and asserts her innocence. After the proceeding, Public Defender Stephen Signore during a phone conversation with Simone said the initial plan was to resolve the case through an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal, but that would have required the case to remain open for six months, and would have prevented the defendant from joining the armed forces. A criminal complaint alleges Araiza continued fighting after police arrived and refused to get up from the ground while handcuffed.
