Ever since Donald Trump locked up the Republican nomination, there has been no shortage of recrimination and mockery directed at political analysts who failed to take his candidacy seriously. No one has taken a bigger beating than FiveThirtyEight editor-in-chief Nate Silver, the famed data journalist whose careful reading of poll numbers in the runup to the previous two presidential elections established him as a lonely voice of rationality and wisdom in a sea of dumb, emotional pundits.

Nate has sources in the industry and we can tell that from the things he has got right. That doesn't mean everything he reports is accurate. Even with Nate I see things reported that he never said. Insiders need to be treated as people who have contacts in the industry, not people who have direct access to all a company's plans.

Nate Silver is a total hack, and the whole FiveThirtyEight 'high quality poll' ratings thing is a complete and utter scam. I wasn't super surprised to learn that as I had read one of Nate's books and came away... unimpressed with his intellect and supposed mastery of statistics.
