Just three days after much of Iowa was hit with a winter storm that resulted in dozens of crashes, and eight reported deaths, Iowans must prepare for another round of snow tonight.According to the National Weather Service the snow is expected to begin in the early afternoon. The snowfall should remain light through the afternoon into the early evening with an inch or less of accumulation possible.The heavier snow is expected to develop after dark, with accumulation between 3 — 6 inches possible overnight for much of the Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, and Quad Cities areas.The weather service expects the snow to continue through to Friday, and by the time the storm passes, a total of 4 — 8 inches of accumulation can be generally expected along and north of Interstate 80.Southern regions of Iowa from Sigourney to Wapello are expected to see snowfall totals of 2 — 5 inches.As cancellations, and warnings are issued, we will update this post.Active Warnings and Cancellations:The city of Mount Vernon has declared a snow emergency beginning at 5 p.m.
