BY STEVE LACKMEYER Business Writer slackmeyer@oklahoman.comIndianapolis-based Milhouse is moving forward with plans to build a 27-unit, four-story addition to the Lift apartments in Midtown and is set to submit plans next month to the Downtown Design Review Committee. Adam Hammack, vice president of development at Milhaus, said the first 30 units of the 329-unit Lift at NW 10 and Shartel Avenue are set to open in late November, with more batches of 30 units each to open every other week. Hammack earlier this month confirmed Milhaus entered into a deal with Rohan Gupta to look at building apartments on a surface parking lot across the street from the Lift apartments. The new building, named L2, will consist of two-story townhomes stacked on top of each other with ramps connected to the garage on the first, second and third floors. The surface lots front a parking garage for the adjoining Pasteur Building, which is owned by Gupta and is reportedly underutilized. Construction on L2 is set to start in January pending approval of plans next month by the Downtown Design Review Committee. Hammack envisions the completed project will result in dense urban block with retail on the first floor of the Lift building and walk-ups on the first floor of the 36,800-square-foot L2. Units will span 764-square-foot, one-bedroom residences to two-bedroom and three-bedroom residences ranging from 1,158 square feet to 1,421 square feet. Hammack said Milhaus decided to move forward after hearing a good response to leasing at the Lift apartments and the potential for townhomes across the street. “We have a lot of people excited to see something added to the urban fabric,” Hammack said.Read more on NewsOK.com
