Metro Denver can expect a partly sunny day Friday with temperatures in the low 70s and a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms ahead of what’s likely to be a rainy weekend, according to the National Weather Service. NWS forecasters, in a tweet, said the Front Range, plains and mountains can expect widespread showers and thunderstorms through the weekend. “There will be lightning, small hail and gusts, but the primary hazard will be locally heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding around burn areas or any poor drainage,” they wrote. Specifically, the weather service says there will be an elevated threat of flash flooding in the Cameron Peak burn scar near Fort Collins each day this weekend. Expect widespread showers and storms thru this weekend, some even persist through the nights and day.
