Bernie Sanders took the stage at Wells Fargo Center to accomplish a seemingly impossible two-part task: honoring the people who had taken part in the maverick campaign he called an ongoing "political revolution," while channeling their abundant energy into the more immediate Democratic effort to put Hillary Clinton in the White House — or at least keep Donald Trump out of it.
