Delsea Running All Over Opponents

As the Broncos’ offensive menu continues to expand, Devaughn Vele is becoming one of the foremost beneficiaries. The rookie wide receiver is lining up all over the field, playing different spots and making an impact in several different ways. The seventh-round draft pick already had three catches in the first half of Denver’s 29-19 win at Las Vegas when head coach Sean Payton put him alone on the backside of a unique, 4-by-1 formation. The Broncos had Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin aligned into the boundary with running back Javonte Williams and jumbo tight end Matt Peart as an eligible receiver all to quarterback Bo Nix’s right. Vele pushed vertically up the field, gave a head-fake inside that kept cornerback Decamrion Richardson on his heels and then eventually snapped off his route to the inside.

Greg Dulcich’s Broncos tenure has arrived at an unceremonious end. The Broncos waived the third-year tight end Monday. Dulcich, a third-round pick in 2022, had been a healthy scratch since Week 5 after a slow start to the regular season. Dulcich showed much promise as a rookie, catching 33 passes for 411 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Brandon Jones made the play of Denver’s win Sunday at Las Vegas. He snatched a Gardner Minshew overthrow in the third quarter and ran the interception back 37 yards to set the Broncos up in the red zone. That became the offense’s first touchdown of the afternoon two plays later when Bo Nix hit Courtland Sutton for an 18-yard score. Jones, though, was no guarantee to play in the first place. He missed last week’s win over Atlanta with an abdomen injury and then spent all of Saturday sick.
