BY JACOB UNRUHEDMOND — Deer Creek football coach Grant Gower firmly believes the top eight or so teams in Class 5A can compete in Class 6A Division II. Next year, the Antlers get a chance to prove just that. Deer Creek — once a small school located in the country — was moved to Class 6A on Tuesday as part of the preliminary list of Average Daily Membership for the upcoming school year released by the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association. That means the football program will make the jump in 2016 and 2017 after the majority of other athletic teams make the move this school year. “With our district, there’s no question it’s one of the best every year,” Gower said.Read more on NewsOK.com
