    San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins is trying to transfer two children, both 16 years old, to adult court. The case comes just over a month before voters will decide whether to keep Jenkins in office, and marks the first time in at least several years that the city’s prosecutors have attempted to move a kid out of the juvenile system, which is supposed to be more rehabilitative than the adult one.

  • Rep. Rashida Tlaib Calls on Antony Blinken to Resign

    On September 24, ProPublica revealed that Secretary of State Antony Blinken reportedly ignored two different reports from within the Biden administration concluding that Israel was deliberately blocking aid into Gaza. Only days after receiving detailed memos explaining exactly how the Israeli military was blocking humanitarian aid, Blinken told Congress that US does not “currently assess that the Israeli government is prohibiting or otherwise restricting the transport or delivery of US humanitarian assistance.” Now, the Secretary of State is facing calls for his resignation.

  • You Can Order Free Covid Tests Again

    The coronavirus is, unfortunately, still here. But here’s some help: As of Thursday, the federal government is, again, providing up to four free rapid tests per household. They’ll begin mailing them next week. The government will also pay for shipping the tests. You can order the tests to be delivered to your home online or by calling 1-800-232-0233. One of the available tests is intended to be accessible for people who are blind or have low vision or manual dexterity, which you can order at a separate webpage or by calling the aforementioned number and following the prompts. The Food and Drug Administration has said at-home rapid tests can detect the presence of Covid-19 up to 80 percent of the time someone is infected.

    Not long after Eric Adams won the Democratic primary for mayor of New York City in June 2021, a lot of people who are paid to be smart about such things began to speculate about what was next. A Wall Street Journal columnist asked if “Manchin-Adams” was “the future of the Democratic party.” Bret Stephens predicted in the New York Times that “Eric Adams is going to save New York.” Lis Smith, the oft-quoted Democratic consultant, told Politico he was “a voice we really need in the Democratic Party right now.” The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee invited Adams to speak to the group to offer messaging tips.
