The FGCU basketball team will be making its first trip to the NCAA. The Eagles defeated Mercer, , in Macon, Ga. to win the A-Sun Championship, earning the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. It is also the first bid given out this year. FGCU has only been a Division I program for six years and this is the second year the team has eligible for the NCAA tournament. The Eagles defeated the host Bears for their first ever A-Sun Championship.
