Danbury Pet Shop Owner Pleads Not Guilty

DANBURY — Shortly after pleading not guilty to charges of witness tampering, a Danbury pet shop owner learned that prosecutors are considering adding to previously filed charges of animal cruelty against him. [...] state Prosecutor Jonathan Lewin told The News-Times the investigation into Doyle’s witness tampering charges revealed more instances of animal cruelty, which will likely yield additional misdemeanor animal cruelty charges. In once instance, officials said, Doyle performed surgery on a Neapolitan mastiff’s inner eyelid, causing severe bleeding, even though he wasn’t licensed to do so. Doyle was arrested again in December after police said he induced two employees to lie to state Animal Control Officer Nancy Jarvis, according to court documents. According to arrest warrant affidavits, Doyle gave each of the of the witnesses an index card detailing what he wanted them to tell Jarvis.
