Danbury High Principal Agrees To Two More Years

Danbury High principal agrees to two more years The 60-year-old educator will continue to lead his alma mater, the state's largest high school of nearly 3,000 students until June, 2015. Bocaccio has four assistant principals and an associate principal, Meghan Martins, who is in charge of curriculum and instruction. Parents, school staff, students and community leaders advise the administration on improving the school. The school has reported progress on increasing student performance, but gaps continue between the highest achieving students and those who are poor, Hispanic, with special needs or English language learners. School board member Phyllis Tranzillo was a guidance counselor in the school system and has known Bocaccio as a colleague for decades. Under Rossi's leadership, the school created a Freshman Academy, opened advanced placement courses and increased rigor for the lowest academic level of students.
