Daily Journal JACKSON – The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal took home a total of 17 awards – including six first-place awards – from the Louisiana-Mississippi Associated Press Managing Editors for 2016 news coverage. APME announced the winners of its annual writing, photo and digital contests for news stories, editorials, photos, graphics and headlines Saturday in Jackson during its annual awards ceremony. Journal health care reporter Michaela Gibson Morris and law enforcement reporter William Moore won first place in the investigative/public service category for their series examining Mississippi’s issue with opioid abuse.
