CAPE TOWN, South Africa — Cyclone Chido left at least 11 people dead and caused widespread damage in the largely poor French island territory of Mayotte in the Indian Ocean before making landfall Sunday in Mozambique on the east coast of Africa. The intense tropical cyclone could impact 2.5 million people in northern Mozambique as aid agencies warned of more loss of life and severe damage.
