COLUMBUS — State Rep. Bob Cupp, R-Lima, voted in favor of legislation that would increase protection for state residents who are victims of cyberharrassment. House Bill 151 would broaden the meaning of the term “menacing by stalking” to also include knowingly causing someone to believe that mental or physical harm would come to that person’s family, intentionally posting a written message or using verbal graphic gestures to lead someone to believe they are in danger and performing either of these two acts using a telecommunications device. “This bill updates Ohio’s menacing and stalking laws to keep pace with current technology,” Cupp said. The bill will now go to the Ohio Senate for consideration.
