Firefighters contained a 35-acre brush fire burning near a Denver Water treatment plant and Roxborough Park on Tuesday night, according to Douglas County officials. West and South Metro Fire Rescue crews responded to the fire burning near the Foothills Treatment Plant at 5:15 p.m., fire officials said in posts on X. The fire did not damage any structures, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office issued voluntary evacuation warnings for the area of Rampart Range and Roxborough Park roads, but rescinded it 40 minutes later when fire crews contained the blaze. “The cause appears to be a bird that hit a power line and fell to the ground, catching the grass on fire,” officials said Tuesday night. People in the area may still see smoke from smoldering vegetation, according to West Metro Fire Rescue officials.
