Outdoor Memorial Day Masses set for Lewiston, Livermore Falls, Houlton, Millinocket, Rumford, South Portland, and Yarmouth

LEWISTON — Bishop Robert Deeley will celebrate a Memorial Day Mass on Monday, May 30, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Cemetery on 217 Switzerland Road in Lewiston. All are invited to this Mass, which is an occasion to pray for all our deceased loved ones, especially those who served our nation and have now gone home to the Lord.

 

Open house at St. Patrick Church Museum in Newcastle on May 29

NEWCASTLE — On Sunday, May 29, all are welcome to learn about, tour, and enjoy a church that has moved the faithful and thousands of visitors for over 200 years.

The St. Patrick’s History Group will hold an open house event in the St. Patrick Church Museum, located in the parish center on 380 Academy Hill Road in Newcastle, following an 11 a.m. Mass. In recent years, the museum has grown considerably and features an incredible array of historical artifacts. St. Patrick Church is the oldest active Catholic Church in New England.

ORONO — The National Science Foundation awarded the University of Maine System nearly $1 million to build new cyberinfrastructure that will expand the state’s access to scientific data, expertise and learning opportunities across New England and beyond.
