University of Vermont dean’s list

BURLINGTON, Vermont — The following students have been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2022 semester at the University of Vermont:

Alden Ducharme, middle level education major, from Bangor is in the College of Education and Social Services.

Hannah Jones, neuroscience major, from Brewer is in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Jamie Mcquarrie, neuroscience major, from Brewer is in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Dominic Needham, neuroscience major, from Veazie is in the College of Arts and Sciences.

 

Silver Rose Prayer Service set for Houlton on June 3

HOULTON — All are welcome to gather for the Silver Rose Prayer Service at St. Mary of the Visitation Church, located on 112 Military Street in Houlton, on Friday, June 3, at 6 p.m. The service will begin with the praying of the Rosary followed by a Mass for Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Each year, silver roses are stewarded by Knights of Columbus councils along routes from Canada to Mexico, honoring respect for life, the spiritual renewal of each nation, and the advancement of the message of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

 

The Rolling Memorial Day Review takes to the streets on Monday

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for honoring and mourning the military personnel who have died in the performance of their military duties while serving in the United States Armed Forces. To commemorate this important occasion, the Rolling Memorial Day Review will take place on Monday, May 30 between 10:30 a.m. and noon. The Rolling Review will feature festive flag-festooned vehicles in an 18-mile drive through the streets of Brewer and Bangor, passing by the many historically significant monuments that salute our generations of patriots.

 

Ogunquit Museum of American Art announces adopt a school program

OGUNQUIT – The Ogunquit Museum of American Art is launching a new pilot program in which the museum has partnered with a local school to enhance student learning of the visual arts in Maine. For the inaugural 2022 season, Biddeford Primary School has been selected for the program. This new initiative will connect students with original works of art, providing an opportunity to copy a work of Maine-inspired art in a museum setting with a pencil sketch.

 

Ten Maine community college students awarded the Leon A. Gorman Scholarship

SOUTH PORTLAND – Ten Maine community college students were awarded full tuition scholarships in honor of Leon A. Gorman for the upcoming 2022-23 academic year. The students were celebrated Monday, May 23 in an online event with Gorman family members and L.L. Bean leadership.
