3D printing course for educators includes free Apple IPad and 3D printer

FAIRFIELD – Kennebec Valley Community College announced registration is open for 3D Printing Series, which equips trainees with a free Apple iPad, Apple Pencil, and Flashforge 3D printer. Popular with schools, libraries, and community centers, the course begins on July 9. It introduces students to user-friendly 3D software and design and provides three CEUs. Training is free to members of the Maine Workforce Development Compact.

 

‘Blessing of the Fleet’ set for Maine State Pier on June 12

PORTLAND — All are welcome to gather for a “Blessing of the Fleet” on Sunday, June 12, at 2:30 p.m. The ceremony is set for the Maine State Pier located at the intersection of Commercial Street and Franklin Street on the Portland waterfront.

“This blessing is a fun Catholic tradition that is celebrated in many maritime communities throughout the world and asks the Lord to bless all recreational boats and current mariners and their vessels as we begin the summer season,” said Fr. Seamus Griesbach, pastor of the Portland Peninsula & Island Parishes.

 

Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger launches $100,000 challenge

Just in time for National Hunger Awareness Month, Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger is launching a 30-day, $100,000 challenge beginning June 1 to raise money for Good Shepherd Food Bank, local community food pantries, and meal sites. This initiative replicates a successful fundraising drive the Campaign sponsored for two years to help Good Shepherd Food Bank and its partner organizations meet the unprecedented demand for food.
