A 17-year-old Addison Township girl is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation after authorities say she posted a threat on social media stating she wanted to kill her brother and members of law enforcement.The alleged threat was seen shortly before midnight Thursday by a state constable in Pennsylvania who monitors an anti-bullying social media chat room, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

Already renowned for its sour ales and truffle fries, the Jolly Pumpkin Brewery in Royal Oak is asking the city if it can host a 5K run late summer.The run/walk would require closing several streets and a 45-space public parking lot behind the business at 419 S. Main Street.Kona Running Company is organizing the race and Jolly Pumpkin would pay the city $15 for each space in the parking lot, as well as the cost of police officers.

Young and old alike are getting together in Royal Oak on Saturday to discuss gun violence and organize against it.Johah Kubicek, a Royal Oak High School student and a founder of the Students Demand Action -- Oakland/Macomb Chapter, and Linda Brundage, director of the Michigan Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence, are speaking at the meeting.

Madison Heights police say they have found no wrongdoing by a priest at Bishop Foley High School following a report by a student there last month alleging inappropriate behavior.The 17-year-old student, his parent and an official from the school were present when the student made a suspicious circumstances report with police April 24.

Sexual assault survivors will soon have a statewide, confidential 24-hour hotline where they can anonymously find help, including counseling and other resources."It's critically important that all survivors of sexual assault have somewhere safe to turn for help," Sue Snyder stated in a news release.

The Road Commission for Oakland County expects to close the west half of the Square Lake/Dequindre Road intersection in Troy and Sterling Heights on Monday, May 21, for paving that is part of the ongoing Dequindre Road project. During the closure, traffic will be maintained on northbound and southbound Dequindre Road and eastbound Square Lake Road (19 Mile Road).

The Sobriety Court and Drug Court programs at Novi's 52-1 District Court are the first in Michigan to earn certification by the State Court Administrative - paving the way toward possible Michigan Supreme Court funding support."Our sobriety and drug court programs are successful because of the collaborative effort of our staff and community partners," 52-1 District Judge Travis Reeds stated in a news release.
