Adam S. Forman has been named chairman of the board of directors of Orchards Children's Services, a Southfield-based foster care and adoption agency.Forman has served on the board since 2008, most recently as vice chairman. He will serve a two year term as chairman.

The Michigan Department of Transportation has decided against closing a portion of I-696 this weekend due to weather concerns. Eastbound lanes between I-75 and Telegraph were scheduled to close as work continues on a $12 million project along the freeway in Oakland County, which includes joint repair and major resurfacing.

Southfield Police Chief Eric Hawkins has accepted a position as chief in Albany, NY.Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan announced Friday, July 20, that she has appointed Hawkins the new chief, the culmination of a national search."I am honored to be chosen to lead the men and women of the Albany Police Department," said Hawkins, in a statement issued by the city of Albany.

Keith Wunderlich, Waterford School District superintendent, was named president of the board of directors of Middle Cities Education Association, a consortium of urban school districts in Michigan. Wunderlich will serve the 2018-19 term as president; he was previously a director for the association.

Rochester police are investigating after a Rochester woman's car was allegedly damaged.According to Rochester police, the incident was reported at 3 p.m. on July 16. A Rochester woman told police that her car was allegedly damaged while parked in the 1200 block of Parkdale Avenue. The victim stated that her car had been parked for approximately eight hours and when she returned, she found that the hood of the car allegedly had several scratches on it.

The Orion Art Center is now accepting submissions for the "Anything Goes" exhibit. The all-media exhibit will be held from Thursday, July 26 to Friday, Aug. 17 at the Orion Art Center, 115 S. Anderson St. in Lake Orion. Art can be dropped off until July 20, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The Novi Fire Department has promoted a 21-year employee from officer to fire captain. Charlie Roberts has served with the department since 1997 as a fire protection officer and comes from a long line of firefighters. Calvin Roberts, his grandfather, served as chief of the Livonia Fire Department from November 1941 until he retired in 1972.

In the century-old neighborhood built by General Motors in Pontiac, a newly-formed but long in the works nonprofit is picking up steam to revitalize their block. And as a part of that momentum, the group will be hosting its first ever Car Show in the Park next month with 100 exhibitors. The GM Modern Housing Neighborhood Association, led by Pontiac native Dayne Thomas, a retired corporate marketing and financial services executive in the automotive industry, began coming together two years ago.
