A new museum is coming to Pontiac aimed at honoring the city's automotive history. The Pontiac Transportation Museum, currently under construction at the old Crofoot School at 250 West Pike St., will be an expansion of the world's largest collection of Pontiac automotive historical materials and memorabilia - the Pontiac-Oakland Museum in Pontiac, Ill.

The owner of the Howell-based Diamond's Steaks and Seafood restaurant is ready to open a second location in downtown Royal Oak now that his plan of operation has been approved by the city."We plan to have a destination restaurant in Royal Oak," said Adam Merkel. "We were fortunate enough to do that in Howell, where we serve 4,000 meals a week in a city with a population of about 9,000.

The Michigan Department of Transportation has selected a contractor to begin work on a $224 million project. Walsh-Toebe Construction has been awarded the contract to begin work on the second segment of the multi-year, I-75 Modernization Project in Oakland County, which is scheduled for completion in 2023.

A police task force arrested a 46-year-old man Sunday, July 22, for allegedly breaking in to the Red Coat Tavern in West Bloomfield Township.Jermaine Lanier Wright is also a suspect in several business break-ins and ATM thefts throughout Oakland County.He was arrested by members of South Oakland Narcotics Intelligence Consortium, a multi-jurisdictional task force comprised of officers from the West Bloomfield, Farmington Hills, Novi and Southfield police departments.

Allegedly going on a drunken rampage led to the arrest of a 50-year-old Orion Township man late Sunday night.Oakland County Sheriff's deputies were called to a home in the 900 block of Big Bend Circle in the township at around 11:30 p.m. for an altercation involving the Orion Township man, his girlfriend, the father of his girlfriend's daughter and others.

Police have arrested an Ohio man wanted in connection with a baseball bat attack on a resident who took him into his Lake Orion home last month, reportedly as a gesture of kindness.
