Novi City Manager Pete Auger selected as finalist for Grand Rapids job

Novi City Manager Pete Auger may be moving west. Auger, who was appointed city manager in September 2014, has been named one of five finalists to become Grand Rapids' next city manager. The Grand Rapids City Commission announced their candidates for the city manager job on Tuesday after first posting the position in mid-April.

A $300 million mixed-use development featuring a hotel and waterpark could be coming to Wixom. According to Crain's, Damas Group LLC., purchased 82 acres of land, just north of I-696 along Beck Road, for $3.

 

Police: Phone scam asks for gift cards to pay off warrants

Auburn Hills Police are warning the public of a phone scam targeting residents. The scammer is impersonating police personnel by calling residents stating they have a warrant for their arrest. The caller then requests money in the form of prepaid gift cards to pay off the warrant, threatening arrest if payment is not received, according to police.

 

Bloomfield Hills woman suspected of stealing from Target 4 times

A 68-year-old Bloomfield Hills woman who police say was wanted for stealing three times at an area Target store apparently pressed her luck by allegedly trying to do it again, and wound up arrested on July 21.The woman was caught allegedly attempting to steal $19.43 of merchandise from the store at 1301 Coolidge Highway in Troy, but was stopped by a loss prevention officer before she could get away with the goods, police said.

 

Armed robber hits another Subway in Oakland County, sheriff says it's the same guy in both crimes

For the second time this week, an armed suspect dressed in an orange construction-type vest and a red and white baseball cap, and with a dust mask on his face, has robbed a Subway restaurant in Oakland County.Authorities believe the same man is responsible for both incidents, which happened in Independence and Oakland townships.

 

Habitat for Humanity program provides home repair assistance to 2 Southfield neighborhoods

Homeowners in two Southfield neighborhoods may apply for help with minor exterior home repairs under a program sponsored by the city and Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County.The third annual Rock the Block program will take place in these neighborhoods on the following dates:. Tripp Road in Groveland Township expected to close beginning July 30

The Road Commission for Oakland County plans to begin the reconstruction of Tripp Road between Dixie Highway and Van Road/Grange Hall Road in Groveland Township on Monday, July 30. Tripp Road will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project beginning July 30. The road is expected to re-open to traffic in approximately mid-November.

 

Medical students mentoring youth in Pontiac explore cultural competency in medicine

Twice a month at Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan's office in Pontiac, something special happens between a group of college students and local youth. Medical students from Oakland University's William Beaumont School of Medicine sit in a classroom, where they meet with kids ranging in age from nine to 17-years-old who are a part of the Hispanic and Newcomer Outreach Ministry.

Pontiac man bound over in shooting death of cousin, Yaharre Stennis

The Pontiac man charged with accidentally shooting to death his teen cousin, and who's also facing drugs and weapons charges, has been bound over to Oakland County Circuit Court.Damari Edward Mahone, 20, waived his right to a preliminary exam Tuesday before Judge Cynthia Thomas Walker of Pontiac's 50th District Court, who sent the case on for trial.
