Earn your green thumb at the annual McHenry County Gardenfest. Come learn about new garden trends, plants, and techniques at this day-long series of garden-related seminars and workshops.

Gardenfest 2020 will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 4 at McHenry County College, 8900 Route 14, in Crystal Lake.

Gardenfest is an annual educational event co-sponsored by MCC and the University of Illinois Extension McHenry County Master Gardeners.

WASHINGTON (AP) — In a bid to revive the Equal Rights Amendment, the House on Thursday approved a measure removing a 1982 deadline for state ratification and reopening the process to amend the Constitution to prohibit discrimination based on sex.

"There is no expiration date on equality,'' said Democratic Rep. Jackie Speier of California, the resolution's sponsor.

Nearly 50 years after it was first approved by Congress and sent to the states, the Equal Rights Amendment “is just as salient as ever,'' Speier said.

A 40-year-old McHenry man is accused of sexually assaulting a child on multiple occasions during a span of more than two years.

Ramiro Gonsalez-Garcia remained at the McHenry County Jail Thursday morning on a $300,000 bond in connection with the allegations. Officers with the McHenry County Sheriff's Office arrested Gonsalez-Garcia on Feb.

The Algonquin Aldi’s is looking to relocate to 1100 South Randall Road as part of an expansion that will include more offerings for customers.

Currently on 425 S. Randall Road in Algonquin, the grocery store would move to Lot 7 in Oakridge Court in Algonquin.

Chris Stair, head of real estate for Aldi Inc., said the store in Algonquin is updating itself.

City Electric Supply has opened the doors to its McHenry branch, the newest of its 500 branches across the country after nearly a year of preparation.

CES chose a 75-year-old building, located at 4030 Main St., that was once a lumberyard in the center of town.

The Algonquin Police Department today announced they issued 11 speeding citations during the recent Super Bowl enforcement campaign and cited six others for other traffic violations.

“Because of these efforts to crack down on impaired drivers and ensure more people buckle up, the streets were safer over Super Bowl weekend,” Sergeant Robert Salazar said.
