Walgreens smash-and-grab suspect jailed in Eastpointe

A man is in custody in Eastpointe after participating in a smash-and-grab at a Walgreens pharmacy in the city early Tuesday.According to WWW-AM 950, Eastpointe police officers responded to an alarm at the Walgreens store on Gratiot Avenue and 10 Mile Road at about 12:45 a.m.Upon arrival, officers found a group used a stolen pickup truck to crash through the drive-thru window and took two safes.

 

Romeo Plank to close at Hall Road for 10 days July 5

The intersection of Hall Road (M-59) at Romeo Plank Road in Clinton and Macomb townships will shut down for 10 days starting July 5, the first of two 10-closures in July for the intersection, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.MDOT officials say the closure will start at 7 a.

 

Pedestrian hit by car on I-94 had pockets filled with pot

Michigan State Police will seek a warrant for a man "with his pockets filled with marijuana packaged for delivery" who was struck on Interstate 94 in Roseville Tuesday morning after running from a crash moments before.The man was hit about 2 a.m. on eastbound I-94 at 13 Mile Road, forcing the closure of the freeway at 12 Mile for some time, according to MSP Lt.

Henry Ford school-threat suspect placed under house arrest

A Sterling Heights teenager accused of threatening Henry Ford II High School was placed on house arrest after it is believed he made objectionable comments on social media, and will be evaluated for his current and prior mental condition.Ethan McElrath, 18, was placed on house arrest via a tether Monday by Judge Diane Druzinski of Macomb County Circuit Court, with the ability to leave his house for court and medical appointments, and was banned from the internet after possibly making some questionable comments on social media.

 

Police resource officer coming to Romeo schools

The Romeo School District has opted to partner with Washington Township to add a police presence in their schools next year.At their June 14 meeting the Romeo School District Board of Education approved a resolution by a vote of 5-0 to have a Macomb County Sheriff resource officer stationed in the district and share the cost with Washington Township.

 

Police alert public to arrest warrant phone scam in Macomb County

Police are alerting the public to a telephone scam in which a person claiming to be from the Macomb County Sheriff's Office tells targets they face criminal charges and must turn themselves in to avoid arrest.The warning comes after a local man reported at approximately 3:30 p.m. Monday he received a phone call from a man who claimed a valid warrant was issued for the resident's arrest.
