Estridge will not run for 5th term

County council member Jack Estridge, first elected in 2002 to represent the southern part of the county, will not seek a fifth term in office.
“I think I’ve served long enough, and others are willing to step up,” the 72-year-old Democrat said Friday.
“I tell you, I have two little great-grandchildren who have really brightened up my life, and I just want to spend as much time as I can with them.”

Thief fishes rent checks, cash from drop boxes

Two local apartment complexes and one business have been victimized by a thief who fished checks and cash out of drop boxes and mail slots.
The thief made off with 16 checks in all worth a total of $7,210 during the late February and early March incidents at the Cottages at Azalea and the Northwest apartment complexes and Lancaster Financial Services.
The crimes at the two apartment complex offices happened overnight March 4, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and Lancaster Police Department incident reports.
