A wildfire on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation continued to grow today, charging toward the Deschutes River as more firefighters arrived in Central Oregon.“We just hear a report that the fire is making a run," Carol Connolly, spokeswoman for the Northwest Coordination Center in Portland, said this afternoon.

Three Bend residents were arrested Friday and Saturday as part of a shoplifting investigation that began with a report of items stolen at Costco.The store contacted Bend Police on Friday afternoon, and the police investigation lead to the arrest of Ronald E. Lowery, 31, on a charge of first-degree theft later in the day.

A fast-moving fire on the Warm Springs reservation grew to nearly 8,000 acres Saturday, with fire managers expecting to have the blaze in check at 10,000 to 12,000 acres by this morning.The fire was discovered around 9:30 a. m., and is believed to be human-caused, said assistant fire management officer of logistics William Wilson with the Warm Springs Fire & Safety Department. The fire threatened structures north of Warm Springs along Highway 3 and in the Wolfe Point subdivision, and by 1 p.m.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office cited a La Pine woman in connection with a fire Saturday morning that erupted from an unattended camp fire, the office reported.Natalie Jean Schlosser, 34, was cited on suspicion of reckless burning after U. S. Forest Service and La Pine firefighters quickly extinguished a fire that burned an area 100 feet by 80 feet, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Troy Gotchy. The fire began in a slash pile several hundred yards south of Pierce Road on property of the U.S.
