As a new mining zoning district edges closer to reality, Lancaster County Council members are hoping the word “landfill” is just as quickly leaving the minds of county residents. During its Monday, March 25, meeting, council unanimously approved second reading of a two-part plan to first create a new mining designation within the county code and to also rezone almost 5,000 acres of Haile Gold Mine Inc.
