The driver, later identified as 25-year-old Bradley Hamel, suddenly stopped in the middle of an intersection while the traffic light was green and made a wide right turn onto northbound Route 188, where his car kept weaving and crossing over the center line, police said. While driving at more than 100 mph — in an area where the posted speed limit is 40 mph — the man lost control of the car in a sharp curve, skidded off the left side of the roadway and struck two curve warning signs near the Judd Road intersection, police said.
