Controversial Monroe Theater Hosting International Film Festival

MONROE - The six-screen move theater on Millpond Parkway has had its own drama since the town bought it at a foreclosure auction and lawsuits sought to nix the purchase, but Friday, it was crowds, cameras and smiling faces as the theater hosted opening night for the Hudson Valley International Film Festival.This is the first year of the locally organized festival, which will show about 70 films at the renovated, brick theater the town bought for $880,000 in 2012.
