There’s a strong belief within the Broncos organization that the franchise’s revolving door of quarterbacks — 14 starters since Peyton Manning retired — has ended with Bo Nix in command.
The rookie quarterback led the Broncos to a 10-7 regular-season record and their first postseason appearance since 2015. Even after Denver’s 31-7 wild-card loss in Buffalo, Broncos owner/CEO Greg Penner was unequivocal in his assessment of Nix at the team’s end-of-season news conference on Wednesday.
“It’s obvious that he’s the guy,” Penner said.
Denver’s medical examiner on Wednesday identified the second person killed in a string of stabbings on the 16th Street Mall over the weekend.
Nicholas Burkett, 34, was pronounced dead from a stab wound at Denver Health at about 9:38 p.m. Sunday, Denver Office of the Medical Examiner officials said in a news release.

States like Texas, Minnesota and North Carolina host annual beer competitions that celebrate the best pours from local breweries. Given Colorado’s reputation as the “state of craft beer,” brewers here believe a similar contest is warranted to toast an industry that bolsters the local economy to the tune of $2.5 billion per year.
That sentiment is what inspired the new Colorado Brewers Cup, a first-of-its-kind competition organized by the state brewers guild.
The Broncos’ stadium future remains undecided and owner and CEO Greg Penner said Wednesday that the team is considering all of its options.
Penner, speaking after his team finished a 10-7 season that included a return to the playoffs for the first time since 2015, noted that ownership has visited with municipalities besides the city of Denver.
“I’m sure you’ve all seen some rumors recently,” Penner said.
Metro Denver communities are preparing for an incoming blast of arctic air that’s expected to plunge the region into a deep freeze over the weekend, opening cold weather and warming shelters for people who need a warm place to stay.
“Cold weather poses a serious danger to people who are unsheltered, and the city encourages people to come inside,” Denver city officials said in a news release Tuesday.
Here’s a roundup of where people can seek shelter overnight or warm up during the day.

Four overflow cold weather shelters are open across Denver and the city will keep them open through at least 11 a.m.
Which bike roller trainers are best?
When the weather doesn’t permit cyclists to ride or train outside, bike rollers provide an economical and effective means to stay active indoors. The ability to use your bike inside can save time and energy, while providing a more controlled, and even safer, environment.
A bike roller essentially holds your bike in place as you ride, with a pair of rollers or drums containing the back wheel and another one holding the front.
