Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho) was re-elected to Congress from the state's 2nd District Tuesday, defeating Democrat Richard Stallings. Simpson, who was first elected to Congress in 1998, faced a competitive primary challenger earlier this year in attorney Bryan Smith. The National Rifle Association and former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney both endorsed Simpson in an effort to shore up his conservative credentials against Smith, who had the support of the conservative Club for Growth and various tea party groups.
