For much of corporate America, the past year has brought a wave of successes — massive mergers, record stock prices and the prospect of a business-friendly tax reform package. But for some companies, 2017 marked the end of the line. There were retailers such as bridal chain Alfred Angelo and mall staple The Limited that seemingly vanished overnight, their bankruptcy filings forcing them to liquidate their assets to pay back creditors.
